A work of art is created

In this blog article, you'll learn about the journey of an artwork, from the creation of a concept to the actual finish.

At the beginning the uniqueness

Basically, I try to implement each artwork in a unique way. Be it a new technique or a certain detail that is used for the first time on that artwork. This way I give each artwork a uniqueness like the moment it represents.

The Concept

At the beginning I deal intensively with the moment I want to represent. I look at the scene, read articles about the game and interviews of the players and coaches. I try to recreate the moment in all its details and bring the details into a concept that conveys the emotions of the moment in an interpretation that corresponds to the zeitgeist. To do this, I plan each artwork before I start - both digitally and with sketches. However, only to the extent that I can move freely within the set framework during painting. Thus the final work of art arises yet only in the creation itself, making the process also for me a journey in search of the perfect motif.

Contrasts in focus

For the implementation, acrylic, spray paint and markers are the focus from the preliminary drawings to the final details. In each phase of creation, the interplay of contrasts is also an essential aspect. Thus, a rough application of paint, various graffiti elements such as tags or the concentration on gray tones reflect the urban flair of streetball. In contrast, the detailed elaboration of individual areas of the motif stands for the seriousness of the moment.

For my paintings I use only high quality materials for paints, canvases or even framing to guarantee a timeless quality of the artwork.

The big picture

One of the most beautiful moments in the creation process is to finally sit in front of the finished painting and look at it with all its details. At this moment I look at the painting with different eyes, not those that created the painting, but as a pure observer. Each detail I then also let me work and how they fit together to form a whole.

But a work is only complete when it has found a suitable home. Because art is not an end in itself in my eyes, but arises only at the sight of the right pair of eyes. And for this reason, a work is only completed for me when it can be viewed by this pair of eyes every day.
